The Bookish Life of Nina Hill
Genre: Fiction
This is the story of Nina Hill, a 29 year-old woman living in LA. Nina is bright and uber organized, and, as the title implies, she lives and breathes books. So much so that she's not entirely convinced that life outside of books is all that great. Nina's mother is a world traveler and has never been a part of her life and she's never met her father, a one-night-stand occasion with her mother, long ago. She's been raised by a nanny, with whom she is very close. Nina works in a book store, is a member of a trivia team, is a part of four different book groups and leads one book group for elementary-school-aged girls. Life is enjoyable for Nina. And then it happens. Her father has died and has left Nina something. All at once, Nina learns she has siblings, cousins and aunts. Oh, and there's that annoying guy, Tom, who's on the competing trivia team. Love is in the air, my friends, and it's ruining Nina's perfectly ordered life. Will she survive the chaos? Will she ever get a chance to read a book again? This is a story of learning that sometimes the thing you thought you feared most, is really the thing you need the most.
What a sweet book this was! What's not to love about a book about a book lover? The turns and twists in the story are amusing enough, but know what you're getting into with this one. It's a fun read, but this one won't stay with you as there's nothing profound or super interesting. But, sometimes (like during a corona virus outbreak and social distancing is in order) this kind of story makes for the perfect read.
